I’ve been called supermom a lot. I’m not sure why, but I guess people just have that image of me because of my business. I am no supermom. I actually very practical about what I can and cannot do. I am not one of those people that thinks I can clean house, cooks all the meals, run a business, do all the laundry, and still have a social life.

To me, everything is about balance. I keep hearing women, especially mothers say that you can’t have it all. Well, I would like to challenge that. Of course you cannot have what you had before plus children and all that comes with a family. If that’s what you were expecting, then your expectations were probably unrealistic. However, you have to change what your ALL means. I prefer to put a positive spin on it. Rather than the glass being half empty, it’s really half full. You actually have way more now than you did then!

6 steps for getting it all:

  1. Stop looking back – It’s okay to have flashbacks, but if you sit around day dreaming about your life before kids, you will get stuck in a rut.
  2. Evaluate where you are – Working? Staying Home? Healthy? Kids? How many?
  3. What are your short term goals? Be realistic!
  4. What are your long-term goals? – Where would you like to be in 5 years? Again, be realistic!
  5. Find like-minded people – Get to knows others who have similar interest. For instance, if you want to start a business or learn a new language, hang around people who are doing just that.
  6. Reevaluate continuously – This is essential. It’s a great time to get back on track if you start to fall off. It’s also good because life is constantly changing. If you don’t change with it, it will leave you behind.
